Think, test, reveal
These short brain teasers reward one useful habit: use every fact you are given, and do not quietly invent any new ones. Make a guess first, then reveal the answer and explanation.
Logic riddles are different from trivia questions: every fact you need is in the clue. The challenge is choosing which detail matters and noticing the assumption that does not.
Cleo. Ben receives a ticket, and the clue says Ben can only receive one if Cleo does too. Those two tickets are now accounted for.
Nine. “All but 9” means every sheep except nine ran away.
Sam’s child. Sam’s father’s son is Sam, because Sam has no siblings.
Thirteen point two seconds. Six strikes have five gaps, so each gap lasts 1.2 seconds. Twelve strikes have eleven gaps: 11 × 1.2 = 13.2.
Choose the box labeled “mixed.” Since every label is wrong, it must contain only one color. The ball you draw tells you which color, and the remaining labels can then be fixed by elimination.
Neither way, if it is an electric train. The wording tries to make you assume there is smoke.
A nickel, dime, quarter, or any other coin that is not a penny. The clue does not say that no pennies are involved in a larger situation; it only identifies this one coin.
One hour. Take the first pill now, the second in 30 minutes, and the third in 60 minutes.
Yellow. Yellow is left of red, red is left of blue, and green is right of yellow, so no book can be placed before yellow.
They are a grandfather, a father, and a son. The middle person is both a father and a son.
Separate what the clue actually says from what your brain fills in automatically.
Before calculating, ask whether a direct reading already solves the problem.
A correct logic answer should account for every fact, not just produce a clever phrase.
Not always. Some use numbers, but many depend on language, ordering, or an assumption hidden in plain sight.
